Following Phoenix's recent announcement supporting BOLT12 (#595799), let's play a bit with it.

Post your static lightning invoice here, I might send you a few sats... Other than Phoenix, there is Zeus I think with BOLT12 support. Any other wallet already supports it?

For reference, this is mine: lno1zrxq8pjw7qjlm68mtp7e3yvxee4y5xrgjhhyf2fxhlphpckrvevh50u0qvm8t927d6g3hry88acurmvya2u0d5d6yruju7edupl8cpm07qfdvqszaggk7hf739g2td3tmc72hsk8qv02wyt6ypyualym9feutq6gu5sqqvcs0exguxrf20fm6cv9avqh0zeq3juvhhnl7z2ktc2uh8w9ypqcy25glvk5rfe62pjfccz9k50wq39dd9t4qv9ar4uv0s3qh8jhusqkz8l2z59kmvzxyxu6cdrgqt2q065sjxg96qqsg86emkxs7kypw8lfvnkn4nw045

BE AWARE!BE AWARE!

Playing with these static payment codes is fun but be aware that if you are using Phoenix on Android WITHOUT Google Play Services, the FCM notifications are not available. Phoenix is now pushing users to use Google Services LOL !

https://m.stacker.news/38175

So if you want to receive payments through those static codes BOLT12, you still need to keep active (not closed) the Phoenix app. You cannot receive payments while you are walking around with the app closed ! SO IS NOT DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER LN INVOICE.

FUCK GOOGLE SERVICES ! I will not use any wallet that is forcing me to install Google Services.

Only if you don't allow it to work in the background and don't have these notifications available

It is, it is reusable

reply

Reusable for what if your Phoenix is not reachable?

That seems like an important detail... didn't notice as I installed Phoenix through Google Play back in the day... just tried to send some sats this way to someone on NOSTR, and indeed, they are unreachable, possibly because of this reason.

I wish Blockstream would implement BOLT12 offers in Greenlight. Since they're already available in CLN, I can't figure out what's holding them up.

reply

What’s the reason behind bolt 12 offers in green light?

reply

The hold-up might have something to do with Greenlight nodes being on-demand [1]. Not sure if by paying/trying-to-pay a BOLT12 offer the node could get a "wake-up" call.

  1. ...activate only when called upon to perform a payment operation and then go into a sleep mode after the operation is completed. https://blockstream.com/lightning/greenlight

Are you sure that's your code? It looks similar to mine and ended up sending the sats to myself...

reply

Anyhow, here a few sats :)

reply

I should have been clearer about what the QR code was for. It is indeed your code. I have not yet generated one for myself. I only wanted to put yours out there in case others saw this and wanted to try sending to a bolt12.

But now you got me thinking... how could I generate my own? What did you use to generate yours?

Sent 100 days. Here's my static code

How long in development has BOlt 12 been worked on? I've heard about it for a bit - didn't know the full history behind it, and its origins

reply

About other wallets with BOLT12 support, I just noticed this post: #596140

Sent 42 sats via Phoenix. Worked like a charm.

Here is mine: lno1zrxq8pjw7qjlm68mtp7e3yvxee4y5xrgjhhyf2fxhlphpckrvevh50u0qwmk6pgqp5a5hcvzfdtw063za6wlwng2vm2djm4snuuqvznjvd8fqqszr36a55x8djqkuhhw3me4wqpkyv9he00lce56zw3rxnr8rwzntxdsqvmgudjffmhxzl73qlxgv7ct357qxmzcls28s8fl5fnwd32x7c76n834whtz4l5r5gl26x74ukhpuxz3ulytq2yagmrapqva99kwkhxnzgsgwg6druywu9yk2xgrzvmznh4jt4wy7qqs2zvhuew6csx0rzykpxz2q95llq

You seem to be offline, tried twice...

reply

Sorry, I didn't realize you need to be online. That kinda kills most of the excitement for phoenix as its a mobile wallet and not always online. Best for running your LN node I think

reply

Great post, thanks for starting it!

Do these wallets already support the tor-like route blinding technology for enhanced privacy?

If yes, does this make transactions much slower as some people feared?
