There is basically no consequence to this. We already have the NUR (Nix User Repository) and you could add other repos to your config file too. Plus flakes are pretty legit.

Regardless of if this happened or not, I was checking out SnowflakeOS for example, a Nix based distro with a focus on GUI tools.
