Frustrated with these 2 services. both used to accept Bitcoin Payments now both only accepting ETH payments via Coinbase commerce.
2 great services that I will no longer use because of this. If you use them, make sure to let them know how you feel about this. This is BS.
Accepting crypto but not accepting the most widely used chain is counter productive and plain stupid.
Any suggestions on alternatives for these services that accept bitcoin please let me know.

Yes, it's frustrating when businesses stop accepting bitcoin. And BTW, Coinbase sucks.
For SimpleLogin you can get vouchers with bitcoin at: https://digitalgoods.proxysto.re/en Or pay on-chain for ProtonMail and get a plan that includes SimpleLogin.
Edit: I just tried ProxyStore but it looks like they only accept on-chain.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Im guessing its "trendy" for these stores to go the "coinbase commerce" route and its sad. Coinbase commerce app is now forcing users to connect with certain ETH shitcoin centered wallets, cant use Sparrow or any privacy focused wallet to send on-chain payments. The only hardwere wallet they give an option to connect to is Ledger, go figure.

This was discussed on SN a while ago.
I don't think that the stores chose it for being trendy, but because it was good and very easy to integrate. Coinbase Commerce used to be a very nice self-custodial merchant solution to accept on-chain payments, but of course they had to screw it up with smart contracts and BS. Maybe some merchants just don't know much about the recent changes. Letting the merchants know might help make some of them consider other solutions.

SimpleLogin can be self hosted.

I use NameCheap for domains. They accept on-chain via their btcpay instance.

And they think about Lightning too.

According to SimpleLogin's site the still do.
For cryptocurrency, we use Coinbase Commerce that currently supports Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dai, Ethereum, Litecoin and USD Coin. In the future, we are going to support Monero as well. In the meantime, please send us an email at support@simplelogin.zendesk.com if you want to use this cryptocurrency.

I did reach out to support. Looks like the only option for Bitcoin is to pay via a coinbase account. Not ideal & a privacy nightmare.

Hold up, so you can't pay onchain with bitcoin using coinbase commerce? You have to deposit it in a conbase account first?
That's insane.

Yup. Coinbase is setting the stage for this BS 🤦‍♂️

stackers have outlawed this. turn on wild west mode in your /settings to see outlawed content.
