pull down to refresh

We are approaching to the last matches of the round of 16. Yesterday, France went through to QF according to their style. Winning 1-0, enough to keep going though still offering some doubts about the performance. Not sure if this will be enough to access to semis or the grand finale, but, right now, is enough.
Then, Portugal played a thrilling match against Slovenia. You may think that being in the pitch players such as Cristiano, Bernardo Silva or Leão, they will be the stars of the match. Not last night. First, Oblak, Slovenian goalkeeper, made an incredible save at a penalty (105 minutes of play) taken by Cristiano Ronaldo. 10 minutes later, after one of Portugal defenders (Pepe) failed a pass, Šeško run clear to score a goal but Diogo Costa, in a great save, deflected the ball.
Consequently, we ended up in penalties. And the hero for Portugal, Diogo Costa, outperform the Slovenian strikers, denying a single goal. Made 3 incredible saves, first goalkeeper to save 3 penalties in the same match at Euro cup.
So, there is another fixture for Friday 5th between France and Portugal (21:00 CET)
Today, at 18:00 CET, Netherlands will play against Romania. Quite sure that @kristapsk will be following Romanian side to see whether can join @roll , @BTCFC and @0xbitcoiner at the top of the table.
Then, 21:00 CET, Austria will fight against Turkey for the last spot in QFs. In this case, I am sure that @BitcoinAbhi will be supporting Arda Guler and his friends to join the rest of the teams at the next round.
Here you can check the standings at the bounty after 6 matches.
Good luck to everyone and enjoy the game!
Diogo's saves were legendary and will go down in history.

I think it's the best penalty shoot-out by a goalkeeper I've ever seen.
reply
Better than Buffon?
reply
Do you mean in general or in a single match? This goalkeeper yesterday saved everything.
reply
Either
I remember Buffon performance in 2006 World Cup in Germany
reply
Yes, I remember it, I'll never forget the final against France...
reply
Haha! You’re talking about one of the greatest.
reply
It looked like as if he were able to stop anything. What a goalkeeper!

Diogo was a giant, he was, but his time is up, this isn't new. It has been hard for FC Porto to hold onto this gem, and this time it's going to be tough. I can already see a European shark coming to buy him... and FC Porto really needs the money.
reply
Having a great goalkeeper is one of the main stones in any football team. After his performance, I am sure more clubs are looking closer. Good news for Porto!
reply
Slovenia almost surprised us yesterday, what a match!
reply
Yes, they performed really well in defence.

Netherlands secured a convincing 3-0 victory and advanced to the quarter-finals.

Sports in this era are entirely different from sports in our era, the era of the Pharaohs, where sports were about belonging and physical health. Nowadays, its goal is money, fame, and women.

😳

why are you surprised? that is the true

If the French national team continues to perform like this, they will struggle in the upcoming rounds because the performance of all European teams is on par with or just slightly below that of France. I hope they improve their performance in Friday's match so we can see the France we knew before and enjoy an exciting game between two of Europe's top teams. This is the Euro Championship we are accustomed to.
