We are halfway through the round of 16. No major surprises apart from Italy, though I think Switzerland deserved it. They will play against England on Saturday 6th. English squad had a tough game against Slovakia. They were fighting right up to the minute 95, when Bellingham scored the agonising equaliser that took them to the extra time. Then, Harry Kane appeared to score the second goal which sent them through to QF.
The other match of the day was a thrilling one during the first half. Spain scored an own goal which put Georgia on the lead. After a few minutes where Spain got panicky, they managed to calm down and Rodri scored a goal with a perfect shot. The second half was different, Spain kept on pressing to increase the advantage up to a final 4-1 at 90 minutes. Lamin Yamal and Niko Williams played a superb match. Next Friday 5th, Germany and Spain will seek a spot in semifinals.
Today, France and Belgium will play at 18:00 CET. We will see if De Bruyne and colleagues can make a shock to this Euro as France seems to be not as strong as before.
Later, 21:00 CET, Cristiano Ronaldo´s Portugal will play against Slovenia for a spot in QFs. Will Oblak be able to stop skilled Portuguese squad? It´s going to be a good match.
Lastly, I make an update regarding the round of 16´s bounty. I would like to apologize as I did not explain well how it works. There are 8 fixtures in the round of 16. The stacker who guesses the higher number of teams passing to QFs, will be the winner. Unfortunately, Spain has overperformed and none of the stackers thought the Spaniards could achieve the result from last night. Tiebreaker will not help. So, if two or more of stackers achieve the same number of teams going through to QFs, the bounty will be split between them. I will try to think about this issue for further bounties and consider other ways to add a tiebreaker.
In the next table, you can see your picks and how it stands at this moment.
I will keep you posted. Enjoy the beautiful game !
When Romania beats Netherlands, I'll be on the top of the list...
reply
Me too! But you will be below me because France will beat Belgium. :)
reply
What if Belgium wins, you're out and out. :)
reply
Hah, but I'm not! :)
reply
And you will be down to bottom when Needs crush Roms in a style.
reply
Yes! Along with @riberet19 . Also there is still a possible combination where @BitcoinAbhi could be the top performer!
reply
Those who went with Switzerland have huge balls, hahaha and they were right XD
reply
Haha, at the same level than betting against France or Netherlands.

Clockwork Orange

Oh no, I'm not on the table. Good thing I'm on this table. #579032

Yes @0xbitcoiner did one at the beginning of tournament. I have done a different one starting at round of 16. Planning to repeat it at QF. Keep an eye!

So favourites are gathering in the final stages!
reply
For now, only Italy is missing. Is this bounty closed now, right?
reply
Not yet, as @BitcoinAbhi can still match the leading ones at the last match. The same for @kristapsk if Romania wins.
reply
You're right. We can still draw.
reply
If Portugal, Netherlands and Turkey win @BitcoinAbhi will have the same guesses right than you , @roll and @BTCFC .
Same case for @kristapsk if Portugal, Romania and Austria win.

Yep, I missed out on yours because I wasn't checking SN enough. Will try to see if I can join your next one for QF.

Very nice spreadsheet you created.

Thanks ! Just trying to clarify.

I can bet Romania can't beat Neds.

I saw the England game and was elated to see them get the VERY late goal in injury time. Wow. Sad for Slovakia though, they looked gutted.
reply
It was difficult for slovakians to overcome two back to back goals. England has a very strong side. I think they can play a lot better than they are doing.
reply
Absolutely agree. They have been underwhelming all tournament apart from at the tail end of yesterday’s game. Better late than never!

good overview👍

What do you think about Portugal’s match? Confident on going through?
reply
For me, Portugal is always a wild card. The players seem confident, but a match against Slovenia, a team that defends with a solid block, is always difficult to score against. They have good players who can reach the opponent's box in 2 or 3 passes. It won't be easy, but I think Portugal will advance.

I am enjoying this match! 0-0 at halftime but plenty of action!

pepe is a legend!

Yes, performing very well at a top level match.
Going to extra time after 0-0

CR7 misses a penalty at the end of first half of extra time. Second half starts.

What a save from Diogo Costa. Heading to penalties.
Diogo Costa is the hero of the match. Three saves lead Portugal to QFs. Will play against France
France through to QF (1-0) thanks to top scorer this Euro: Own Goal
