If we're drawing distinctions amongst the varieties of socialism, then fascism is probably the closest to how power is organized today: a merger of state and corporate power.
I agree with the case Hoppe lays out in A Theory of Socialism and Capitalism that the only real distinction is whether society is organized along peaceful voluntary lines or coercively planned lines. That is, we either have some form of socialism or we have some form of freedom.
