After I retired my body started working a lot better. The medicines I had been taking for years all of a sudden started working better too. I was taking medicine for diabetes and high blood pressure and a few other things. I suddenly lost a lot of weight and started having low blood pressure and low sugar levels.
I was fainting and falling and feeling like I was going to die. My doctors eliminated some medicines and reduced a lot of the others. I immediately felt much better and quickly regained some weight. I still had side effects for a couple of months.
Eliminating chronic stress and the resulting rebound of the physical body can be dangerous if nothing else is adjusted.
Stress is an illness that we all suffer from at some point in our lives, the problem is when it becomes chronic. Always trying to do things in the best way and having a good mood are keys to avoiding it.

In English medicines are also commonly called drugs which is quite revealing, the same word if used for statins and heroin. The body is very forgiving and adaptable, one should use as little of them as possible (if any), if the need for drugs becomes chronic it is a lifestyle issue that can most often be changed by other means

I was put on antidepressants in my late teens. When I started eating a relatively paleo-type diet I noticed I started feeling a bit overwhelmed and overstimulated. I found I didn’t need the antidepressants anymore (if I ever did).
It’s obvious yet somehow surprising to learn how much lifestyle matters for health.

So basically, work was killing you. Remove work, healthier.

Well it was trying to but I had adapted to that situation over a long period of time.

of a truth Lower stress levels might reduce this adrenaline boost, potentially impacting performance in high-pressure situations.

Yes I believe you are correct.

Absolutely the body is a strange thing like that. For example when we have a holiday after being stressed we often get sick for a few days as the body adjusts. It's a necessary process.
We live in a hyper stimulated world and we need to rest more however we often don't want to because we are somewhat addicted to the stress and subconsciously know that taking time out will make us feel awful for a time.

Millenials like me are going to find this out the hard way lol getting older now, feeling the effects of going full tilt, working a lot, i try to workout, eat healthy, get fresh air but less computer time and more sleep are definately still on my list of lifestyle improvements

more hugs - not drugs. put the feet into the ground, pet the animals, get into the river or an ocean.
our bodies have an electric design: electrical pump -> electrical processor -> electrical guts & guns
meanwhile the drugs & grub industries work together to reinforce each other.

All medicines have some side effects. That is why we should take as little medicine as possible. You can do yoga to reduce your stress
