They're always quick to point fingers at "Energy-use" of important technological advancement like Bitcoin or AI, probably because it's only a minority who "gets" it, but God beware if you touch any big-name sports-event, just take a look at F1 for example: how environmental friendly are those one-sided "races"?
Since it's big business, and there are actual fans and crowds that seem to find some sort of substitute-religion in those events, nobody seems to bat an eye to it (which is also in part because the actual impact is much more facetted and harder to gauge).
Important technological innovations, however, no Sir, that ain't gucci.
