Why dont bitcoiners seem to give up? Ethereum is projected to overtake bitcoin in terms of market cap, its already over taken it several other key metrics. There seems to be little money for miners in the future making Bitcoin insecure. Inflation is also so high that having a digital society seems impossible. I mean we are going to see horses and buggys return to the cities within the next 10 years if inflation stays at 10% YOY. And it seems like people arguing for digital currency in a world that is transitioning from cars to horses and buggies is somewhat of a mismatch. I mean its a common belief that Bitcoin is digital gold, but who says the future is going to be digital.
The US government will realise its errors and remove the sanctions or apply them diferently. Sanctioning a smart contract adress is very bad regulation. It would be like sanctioning youtube because someone uploaded illegal material.. or sanctioning facebook because someone shared classified documents?
I agree that it's poor regulation and a gross overreach. The arrest of the Tornado Cash developer is particularly twisted. But if the powers that be feel threatened, we can't expect them to play fair. I hope you are correct that they back down, but personally I think they'll continue to tighten the screws if anything.
That said, I think this is a useful wake-up call. For too long now various protocols have gotten away with marketing themselves as "decentralised" when in reality they are anything but. They've gotten away with this because they haven't existed in an adverserial environment where decentralisation mattered. Seems like that might be changing.
went to the Miami Bitcoiner's Meetup last night, and had the rare chance to use one of my PAs so they could get better sound.
One panel got heated between Fode Diop and Neil Jacobs over definitions of money and the legitimacy of countries to self-determine their currency future. Some audience members jeered at Fode's assertions. I missed most of it. I like to have conversations more so than watch panels.
Tonight I hope to attend the Broward County Bitcoiner's Meetup from 7-9pm. Tomorrow I do my weekly bitcoin brunch from 10am-3pm. This looks like quite a bitcoin weekend.
Hopefully I write my weekly essay soon, so I don't scramble to do it before I leave for brunch. Some proof of work!
I will be learning more about the lightning network today… with your help of course…
Is the Lightning network address the equivalent of a static QR code for invoice ?
What relates to the QR code that sometimes appears in some websites where people can donate ? Is that the Lightning address ?
Thank you for guiding me by sharing links that will expand on this so I can get more familiar with the bitcoin lightning network every day that goes by.
You are all Amazing !
Life is good and I am grateful I can learn more about Bitcoin today 🙏🏼
Why would I waste my time with that?
There's so much to talk/do/test/use/improve about Bitcoin that we don't have time for shitcoins.
Anything that is not Bitcoin is a distraction from all that matters.
Talking about shitcoins shows how some people are wasting their time with garbage. Those do not deserve to have any sats, just HFSP, the rope.
We'll talk about fine wine, the NFL, the weather, popculture, the color of my poop before we talk about shitcoin. In that order. And since I doubt you want to hear my toilet stories, we'll probably never reach your shitcoin. Because both of these topics are shit.
Please post here your preferred hosted channel for SBW (Simple Bitcoin Wallet) and add some comments why you use those ones.
I am trying to make a list of them.
