Space has a distinct smell. It smells like a bouquet of diesel fumes, gunpowder, and barbecue. The aroma is mostly produced by dying stars.

Fair enough. This immediately came to my mind:
Space is an airless vacuum, so technically, you can't smell anything in space — if you tried, you'd be dead.
