Lightning payments shouldn't take nearly as long as a block confirmation, but it's trending this way as people tolerate increasingly moronic peers
Performance is important, here's a few tips:
  • Stop peering with Tor nodes, they're slow and unreliable and its not more private just an intel agency honeypot getting you put on a list
  • Don't open more channels than you need, ideally they're entities you transact with
  • Don't make channels public unless you're a router using a datacenter quality connection
  • Use low latency ("ping") peers, close geographic proximity helps
  • Reject Bolt12, it's an attack on Lightning to hurt its network effect by combining Tor+ECash into a payment spec
  • Jack fees on depleted-ish public channels so discourage others from trying to route through them
  • Set a realistic base fee and min htlc to discourage spam, 10 sats or more
Well said @justin_shocknet ! 100% agree !

Could someone elaborate this point? I am not a lightning expert and bolt12, especially receiver privacy seemed like a good idea to me.
