There's also a push amongst Democrats to automatically register young women for the draft.
After the centuries it’s taken to stop culturally regarding women as private property, our status could become relegated to being “on hold” instruments of violence and labor to be forcibly used by the state…”equality.”
Do you know what the “Selective Service” is and how it differs from the draft? I did a little research and it basically seems like a place to hold names in case we need a draft in the case of a national emergency…which doesn’t seem much different from a draft at all, just an extra button put in place to so we feel more justified when it’s pressed.
Your comment also reminded me of all the commentary about violence in video games. The narrative always seems skewed to GTA “anarchy games” and never to war games. War games like Halo spiritualize violence.
I think selective service is just sort of a precursor to the draft. You might also think of it as a euphemism.
I wish more people would get on board with equality through nobody being drafted, instead of everyone.
