Running our own relay contributes to decentralization, but won't it limit the reach of our notes? Perhaps it's a client-side issue, but if no one subscribes to our relay, no one will see our notes. Is that correct? Or am I misunderstanding something?
You probably know more than me re nostr. I envisioned a private relay as something you would only invite certain people to use. Sort of a closed system? Maybe I'm wrong?

While that's an interesting use case, I was primarily thinking about using this feature to save our notes. As you know, when you delete a note, it doesn't mean it's really gone.

Yes, I know! My brain has trouble grasping the journey of a note, even though I've been sending them out into the world for a year and a half.
