It was washout so USA and Ireland both shared 1 point each. With this one point USA has reached to 5 points. For Pakistan and any other team in the group, it's now impossible to reach 5 points so USA qualified to the next stage.

But what if Pakistan wins the last game. We don't know if US would have won. If they had lost it would be tied.

reply

I want Pakistan will win. So that we will get to see India-Pakistan match once again.

We don't know if US would have won. If they had lost it would be tied

Then Run-rate will matter.

reply

Don't you know that US and Ireland match is over? It was a washout so USA has already qualified and Pakistan has been knocked out.

reply

I don't read update. So I am not aware of it. Thanks for correcting me.

reply

Please read the previous comment once again. I've edited it.

Even if Pakistan wins the last game, they can reach to 4 points only. While US is at 5 points already so they qualify.

reply

The US gets a point for a cancelled game? That's very odd. That must be unique to cricket. I can't think of any other sport that rewards you for not playing.

reply

It's not unique to Cricket. In many other sports, if it's a washout or the match can't be completed then both teams share equal points.

It also happens in Hockey, Football and other such sports.

reply

When you say hockey, it's what North Americans think of as field hockey?

reply

Yes, right.

reply

Oh well. They don't do that in North American sports. If the game matters to the standings it will be played some how, some way.
