This is very similar to my view. I think our perception of time has to do with how much is being recorded by our brains.
When we're kids or on a trip to a new place, a large share of the experiences are novel. That requires our brains to process a lot of information and makes it seem that time passed more slowly.

By extension, we could take on a novel challenge at work since being engrossed in intense problem-solving will make time pass fast (because we’re in the flow) and slow (because the days are unique) at the same time. Though I can’t do that all the time because undertaking something new tends to make me feel rushed, which is a feeling I dislike
