I didn’t even realize it was the 5 year anniversary until I saw TSN here in Canada replaying the game.
Please enjoy the highlights from the Toronto Raptors NBA Championship clinching victory 5 years ago today.
What’s your take on the crowd cheering KD’s injury?
I had a different interpretation, but you probably have a better finger on the pulse.
reply
I am not going to justify that. It was a shitty thing to do. You get some idiots cheering and then people just join in without thinking. Didn’t like it then, don’t like it now. Is what it is?
What’s your perspective?
reply
My recollection is that his injury immediately led to a turnover and fast break. It looked bad on TV, because the camera stayed on Durant and it was clear he was hurt and the crowd is going nuts.
I always wondered if the crowd was cheering because of the huge turnover and fastbreak. Then they got quiet when they realized KD was hurt.
reply
I think a bit of both because Lowry had to signal for them to quiet down but that probably fed into it.
I am glad this game is on because I don’t remember what happened, why they had a long review before the Warriors inbounded with 1 second left. I remember it being a very anticlimactic celebration.
reply
It was the foul on Kawhi with 0.9 seconds left that held everything up. Stupid refs ruined the party.
reply
I vaguely remember that.
reply
Terrible
They need to use their silent voice when cheering the injury of a great player on the other team
So hockey fans behave this way?
reply
That was a pretty cool time. I really enjoyed following the Raptors' run that year, really cool.
reply
Yes it was a great ride. Too bad Kawhi didn’t come back. Probably would have won in 2020 as well.
reply
Yea, I remember how everyone thought the Raptors were going to suck after Kawhi left. And when they got to the playoffs, swept the Nets, and brought the Celtics to game 7, many people were surprised. But the fact is, they were a very good team even without Kawhi.
reply
Crowd has definitely played a role there. Great match!
reply
To tell you the truth, I am not interested in watching the matches that India is not in. But I can watch the final of any match because only the best teams compete there. So I like it.👍
reply
Very competitive one! Not as exciting as Cricket though!! 😜

KD was injured and hardly played. Then Klay suffered a serious knee injury.
The offense changed and became more dependent on KD.
reply
Are you making excuses for the dynastic Warriors? I thought greatness rises above adversity?
Yes the Warriors were undermanned. Klay played most of the series. He missed game 3 and the last quarter of game 6. If they had KD they probably would have won the series.
reply
I am making excuses but also explaining why they lost without a healthy KD
I was happy to see Toronto win a basketball championship
reply
Yes I agree. It would have been a different series with KD.
My buddy spent 2k to go to game 2. Would probably be 5k now.
reply
I love this. 👍🏻
