Big benefits flow from this being rolled out now:
- Recurrent payments (subscriptions)
- Improved receiver privacy 
- Reusable payment requests

Some LN implementations WAY ahead of others in implementation and deployment, and given the potential impact of these, will have to be playing catch-up
