Bitcoin Magazine has become a refuge for shitcoiners and JPEG maximalists. But in the middle of meaningless articles are buried some gems worth having a look. I dig them out and post them here so that you don’t have to.
"Orange Man Good: Selling Out On The Campaign Trail"
Since the beginning of his presidential campaign, RFK Jr. has pushed back against the systemic government corruption where elected official work harder to goose the bottom-line of pharma companies, big banks and the military-industrial complex than to defend the interests of the people who elected them. It was therefore not surprising to see him support bitcoin since bitcoin can take away the power of the money printer and give back the power to the people.
The recent weeks have seen interesting developments with Donald Trump also endorsing the orange coin, speaking to a libertarian convention and promoting bitcoin mining as an essential activity for the financial and energy future of the United States. Whether one is a Trump supporter or not, the least we can say is that he has been very well briefed and triggered so much FOMO from the democrats that they had to pretend to also support the industry while in fact working behind the scene to undermine it.
This said, this article in Bitcoin magazine is a good reminder that politicians would say anything to get votes and that most campaign promises get forgotten once the newly elected president sets foot in the oval office.
The first paragraph sets the tone very well and I highly recommend reading fully the article:
“After 20 years of forever wars, growing social decline and exacerbating economic demise, it seems that we are still immune to learning that politicians lie. Practically, the US is still in the same place it was in 2004, fueling raging conflicts across the Middle East. The treasury is still overleveraged to both its ears, the stock and housing markets again lie on the brink of implosion, homelessness still continues to rise, jobs are still scarce, and still nobody really knows how to pay for anything.”
Actions speak louder than words.
Do I believe RFK, Trump, or some other politician that is pandering to us? Not in the slightest. However, while they have just given us lip service, the current administration has shown us through their actions that they are anti-Bitcoin.
So with that, I will gladly give those pandering my vote over giving it to someone that has already acted against me. This is what is being lost in all of the discussion on this topic.

If we are talking about trump....no. If he was a bitcoiner, wouldnt he have done something before now? He jusst wants the funding and votes.

Politicians are shrewd foxes. They can be whatever the public wants them to be. But they are known to show their true colours only when their real motive is fulfilled.

Agree with your comments, in the end it not about trust it is all about actions. With the current US administration or the EU you definitely know where to stand, with all the others pretending we wait for the proof of work. Still, genuine or not the game theory is in play and long term bitcoin incentives are set to win, bitcoin is the most peaceful revolution

People can be orange-pilled and politicians are just people, so yes, I think there are some that are likely genuine.
But the nature of being a politicians means they can't be trusted. They're often forced to sell-out and compromise on their own beliefs and convictions.

I don't believe in them until I see them act in favor of Bitcoin.
