Thats a good point.
I think the one benefit QR Code has is its compact 2D nature. Having a "1D" Linear line of of text makes presentation more difficult - as it requires more space.
Having said that, I suppose you could also just display the text in a 2D grid of 40x40 chars (or whatever)
