There's quite a bit to this one
  • @ek reworked the frontend payments UX to be optimistic (e.g. zaps appear roughly non-custodial)
    • we are going to take this a lot further, but it's a big upgrade already
  • @ek made top always show the global, unpersonalized ranking whether you are logged in or logged out
  • @WeAreAllSatoshi implemented blind poll votes, meaning we no longer link your poll choice to your nym (this was also applied retroactively)
  • @ek added notifications when someone mentions one of your posts/comments
  • @t0m implemented embeds for Rumble videos (huge assist from @BenAllenG on this)
  • kravhen (on github) added a popover for stacking since on stacker profiles
  • @ek gave items created with an API key a bot badge
  • @t0m made it so the related posts collapses when you leave the first comment
  • @t0m made it so all internally linked items show a popover (before []() links would not have a popover)

@ek and I continue to primarily work on wallet stuff

Is the optimistic zapping behavior what causes what seems to be a slight delay? Iā€™m guessing it is, but wanted to check

We had to remove the optimistic zapping behavior for non-custodial zaps because it caused replies to not show up.
Zapping from your custodial wallet should not have any delay, they still use the same optimistic behavior as before.
Are you talking about custodial or non-custodial zaps?

It's the lightning bolt. It's more delayed than usual.

I see, this should fix it
reply
At least for me, not only is the lightning strike delayed, but the coloring of the zap button is, too.
reply
Mine are custodial
reply
Iā€™m not sure. Removing one of the hacks might be causing a delay now. @ek would know better
reply
Fair enough!

Great work as always!
What does it mean for someone to mention one of our posts or comments? Is that specifically the #________ format or does it work for any link to our stuff?
reply
Nice. I particularly like TOP always show global unpersonalized.
reply
bot badge is not retroactive, right?
Edit: Also, when I made this comment, the related section did not disappear, and my comment did not appear, until I refreshed the page. Sounds related to this release?
reply
It would appear not :)
reply
I wonder bot posts will see fewer zaps with this change.
reply
It sounds related to the related changes. I'll see if I can reproduce.
Edit: I'm also seeing stale items. Sometimes your edit shows, other times it doesn't. Hrm.
@ek every time I leave a comment I get a notification indicator but there are no new notifications when I go to view it.
reply
Also occasionally my comments just don't show up until I reload the page.

Mhh, didn't happen for me

This way is much better, imo!

There are several bugs introduced by the frontend payments UX (e.g. if you zap something, things like comments won't show up after you submit them unless you reload the page).
We are working on reverting them and will hopefully have that out soon.
