I think conservatism is kind of unusual in America, because our tradition is revolutionary liberalism.
I agree that there's never been a coherent American conservatism that was widely adopted, but it's possible that we do need such a thing.
And why do you think so? Aren't you in good terms with American liberalism? I like liberalism and has been preaching it as an example for operating a better democracy.

I do like liberalism (not democracy so much). In the American context, liberalism is part of conservatism, because the country was founded on liberal ideals.
