I don't know much about this genre but im excited to learn.
I think this was my first introduction to bluegrass https://youtu.be/NFutge4xn3w?si=crezjKd6H0X9PhQ3
That guy's face still scares me.
I don't know much either, hence this thread, so we can learn by sharing what we discovered, good song by the way!
This is why this territory exists!
Molly Tuttle is incredible. She and Billy Strings might be the best pickers alive right now.
Thanks for sharing! I remember this song very well from GTA San Andreas hahaha, I love it
Is this bluegrass?
view on youtu.beYes! IMO. I probably listen to Billy Strings more than any other artist right now, but I'm no bluegrass expert.
I think is Bluegrass too
Love The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and especially their take on a Beatles classic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4zkjqfTfkI

view on youtube.comI'm not a big bluegrass fan as I just don't like some of the sound, but here's one I like!
this is the style i recognize as bluegrass. the rest of the videos on this thread don't sound like this to me.
here's one:
view on www.youtube.comI haven't listened to all the songs yet, but I'm guessing that most of it is what I've heard referred to as newgrass or modern bluegrass. There's still traditional groups out there, but much of the bluegrass I hear anymore is influenced by other genres. It's not as wild a shift as country has had, but still there. I'm not a genre expert though!
lol... "newgrass" get off my lawn.
it's still nice to hear and i enjoy the sounds of music in a general sense.
Not my word! 😂 At least it's not spelled nu grass!
I agree, it's not that it's bad. Just different.
Haha are you taking pot shots at Nu Metal there astro?? I'm loving this bluegrass thread, giving me a whole new genre to explore.
Not really, I just don't think the trend of misspelling words fits in well with the more traditional nature of the music! 😂
🤣🤣 can't disagree with you there 🤣🤣
I'm enjoying it a lot too! I'm already looking forward to next Wednesday for more!
It's been a well received and really good engagement thread. I'm looking forward to next week too.
I liked it too, I didn't know about it, thanks for sharing :D
You're welcome! I don't have a lot of bluegrass in my collection, but I'll try to drop some in here from time to time!
greetings from out here near Winchester, KY
Thanks to this discussion, I discovered that for more than 10 years the Italian Bluegrass Meeting has been held in Cremona, Italy, with international artists. 😄 Above all, I discovered a Roman guitarist who imported Bluegrass to my country in the 1970s.
Therefore, I could only propose Danilo Cartia with his version of Old King - Five Strings Banjo
