This article [1] published back in 2021 warned us that 802.11bf plans to standardize how Wi-Fi devices map and scan objects within it's connection range. It said that the standard will be introduced in September of this year.
For those that aren't aware, there has been research into using AI to interpret distortions in Wi-Fi signals to observe surroundings. Anyone with access to your router can effectively "video record" you through your walls. Your neighbor could even setup devices that monitor you without your permission.
This is being pushed at the hardware manufacturing level as a standard so expect to see all Wi-Fi enabled devices support this capability.
