I was recently reminded by @cryotosensei that I have a bunch of Minds tokens from the Before-Times (how I think of time before Stacker News). I'm planning on spending them all boosting a post about Stacker News. I have enough tokens to reach something like 1,000 people.

What I'd like to hear from my fellow stackers is what your best short pitch for Stacker News is.

If you're not familiar with Minds, it's an alternative social media platform that's dedicated to free speech. I'd say the likely audience is right-of-center politically and really into independence and alternatives to establishment systems.

An ideal Minds post would look a lot like an ideal X post, as they're pretty similarly designed platforms.

The two aspects I'm inclined to focus on are the diversity of content and the high level of engagement, but I want to know what you all find most compelling about SN.

Here's the thing, though. I don't want SN to be flooded by lazy political memes, like Minds and nostr are.

The ideal pitch (to me) would not appeal to such people.

I do like the photo idea and it could be extended to art. There are quite a few independent artists on Minds.

Emphasizing that good content gets rewarded is really smart. That's a particular pain point at Minds.

SN for me is the perfect food for thought and learning new things from like minded people. After coming to SN, I've not looked beyond because I wanted a genuine platform with genuine Bitcoiners. And SN is the best one.

SN is like HN focused on Bitcoin using Lighting for tipping. The most compelling case is you can tip sats, logging in with Nostr is also nifty but not so many use Nostr.

It's good you are focused on diversity and engagement, but using Lemmy as example they have all those points but have the problem of bots and hugely toxic redditors, I would take notes from Lemmy too.

My sense is that most people on Minds will not be that familiar with HN. I could say something like "It's Reddit, but with Bitcoiners"

Correct most are more familiar with Reddit, you could also say "social discussion platform similar to Reddit"

"Stacker news economy scheme incentives good content and good readers (and vice-versa). So if you have something valuable to share, this is the place. It can be used either like reddit and twitter, but simpler and cleaner."

The most success I have had is getting people to migrate over from Nostr to join the pools or pick 'ems. I was able to use 2 of my invite links so far. I pre loaded them with 1000 sats.

I’m not sure how I would pitch it but SN is so different than all the Twitteresque platforms out there. No ads, less spam and V4V paid in sats.

It’s the latest cool kid on the block, more interesting than everything else out there and generally attracts more creative and talented people.
