It's weird to see one's tribe, that is casually dressed nerds, produce weapons. When weapons are made by stodgy old guys in suits, produced through uncompetitive overpriced contracts, it's easy to disapprove. Yet, defense is rational. Regardless of any of that, this video was pretty excellent. Palmer Luckey is an interesting dude.

  • Anduril Industries, a U.S. defense tech firm specializing in AI-driven autonomous systems, is negotiating a funding round of up to $8 billion that could value it at over $60 billion, doubling its $30.5 billion valuation from a $2.5 billion raise in June 2025.
  • The influx aims to fund expansion of a new weapons factory and advanced autonomous tech development, building on Anduril's revenue growth to $1 billion in 2024 amid rising global defense demands.
  • This potential deal underscores surging investor interest in private defense startups, positioning Anduril as a leader rivaling traditional contractors like Lockheed Martin in valuation terms.

It was surprising to see such a positive video about him, without some sort of backhanded political commentary attached.

It's pretty amazing how wasteful these government contractors that companies like Anduril and SpaceX can be orders of magnitude more productive/$.

I think the tide is turning politically. Both sides of populism have to atone now that Biden has had his run too. We are also fucked if the hurdle rate to building things is singing politically correct hymns like Mariah Carey.

Even the whole mission focused company thing is okay now. It all correlates well with ZIRP ending.

Crazy how controversial that was for Armstrong at the time...

Funniest thing about Luckey is all of the receipts he's kept (Calacanis etc) of all the VCs and journalists who dog-piled him when getting ousted from FB/Oculus and when starting Anduril. They've all changed their tune now that Anduril is a media darling and he's refuses to forgive them..

Oh man, I totally missed his speech about Calacanis. Brutal.

Calacanis.
I don't follow this stuff anymore but that dude has always been a tool. Loved hearing someone call a spade a spade.
