Bitcoin Beginners Newsletter

Welcome to the first issue of the Bitcoin Beginners Newsletter. Every Friday morning I will post this newsletter, which for now will contain the Top 5 Posts of the Week, as well as the top posts of all time. I hope to gradually make this a frequently updated source of high quality bitcoin educational material.
@Fabs posted his idea for a new contest directed at encouraging quality educational content. I really like the idea, and I hope he moves forward with his plan. If it’s successful, I may gradually phase out the Top Posts Of The Week contest and support his contest instead.
I will probably begin to include part or all of my Bitcoin Learning Resources pinned post links into this newsletter. This will make the index easy to edit and update on a weekly basis.
Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Top 5 Posts Of The Week

There will be a zap award for the top 5 posts weekly. It will be broken down as follows: 1. 2500 sats 2. 1000 sats 3. 500 sats 4. 500 sats 5. 500 sats Posts will be judged using SN zaprank. The cut off time is 9:00am EST (1300GMT) Friday morning. I will post the top 5 winners shortly after 9:00am every Friday morning.
Here are this week’s winning posts:

Top Posts Of All Time

Here you will find a few of the top posts that have been posted to this territory. I am not going to adhere to a rigid zaprank system, since my purpose is to highlight content that has educational value. I will use an informal combination of zaprank and my own evaluation. For instance, some posts, though of high quality, are solely about Stacker News, and might have more appropriately originated as a meta post.
Great post and discussion prompted by @StillStackinAfterAllTheseYears Who holds the keys post. Enjoyed that one.

I think you forgot to use @anon mode.
reply
@k00b said it wouldn't change the results.
reply
If I'm not mistaken, he mentioned that he didn't adjust the results based on geographical location.
reply
Let's ask: @k00b, will I get different zaprank results if I log out and use anon?
reply
Yes, top is still personalized
reply
You have something to pick on every Friday ain't it? 😜
reply
My intention isn't to criticize; I'm simply seeking fairness in this situation. As you can see, I'm not on the winners' list, so I have no personal stake in the outcome. 😜
reply
Well, as K00b said: it's slightly personalized, and thus, slightly biased.

Yes. I just looked. I guess coinsreporter was the one who said it about anon.
reply
The coin thought there were differences due to geographical location, but it was me who suggested using the @anon mode.

Congratulations to everyone!
I must say that this week has been one of the best ever considering V4V elements.
One of my reffered stacker @BitcoinAbhi has been on the list till yesterday with his two posts #539208 #538208 but he went out of it just by some great posts.
Nonetheless, he has been amazing last week and so all the top stackers on ~bicoinbegginers. Thank you all for enlightening beginners with some real contents.
Best wishes for next week.

Thanks for taking my name. I don't know about the competition here. But this is very good. Now I know it and I will try to come up with another good series of posts this week.
reply
This territory has come a long way, huh? N to think there was a point in time when you seriously considered shutting it down.
May more n more sparks fly 😉
reply
Thanks. There's still a long way to go.
reply
Oh? What are the next two goals that you want to reach with this one?
reply
Nothing in particular. I want the territory to grow with great content. I really liked your idea and want to encourage the sort of posts your contests would produce, assuming there is interest.
reply
Hm, if you want to, we could "seed" an initial round or two--- from rewards 'till topics, as well as the winning conditions.
We could build upon the initial post covering this idea.
Since there wasn't any (real) input, we'd have to organize the whole thing from top- to bottom, and see what people like and don't like, as well as if there's any interest.
reply
If you want to structure it I'll put up half the says to start. If it works and becomes a regular thing the territory (me) can fund it.
reply
Hm, I'll send you a draft and highlight the points I'd want your input on.
reply
Sounds good. BTW, I hope you keep writing posts like the one you posted today. If you do we won't need a contest😀
"his idea for a new contest directed at encouraging quality educational content."
Sadly, it seemed like nobody was interested in actually writing- or even submitting topics for a competition, which is why I've put the idea in the drawer for now... 🥲
reply
I thought so. I was hoping maybe talking about it would revive some interest.
reply
Yeah, well, I've got the idea that most people like to engage in more simpel / open "What if"-questions, which is absolutely fine, but not what's looked for in a mostly technically-centered Bitcoin competition... 😜
