Provide a thumbnail for free.
Return 402 for full-size image
Else, Provide a full size image when payment provided.

Would SN consider adding this pay-per-view feature for full-sized images for users w/ Sats in their wallets who opted in to the functionality?
I wonder if there's any legal issues with selling access to photos in such a way?

I don't think there are legal issues.
For SN I don't think it really makes sense to charge for viewing images. Consuming/reading/viewing SN is free/open and we want to keep it that way.
We might let stackers paywall their stuff at some point, but I think paywalls suck.
