5 May is Children’s Day in Japan. It is a public holiday, though ironically only boys celebrate this occasion. There’s a separate festival for girls. My wife was eager to prove her dedication as a mother. She painstakingly crafted a carp streamer scene out of seaweed, bringing to mind the vibrant and gorgeous carp streamers dancing in the wind everywhere in Japan on this special day. I benefitted by extension. I was greeted by a happy face.

DId you hang up the carps in the wind?
Black for dad, Red for wife, and blue for son?
I seem to remember we also used to set up a samurai warrior on a special box.
He had all his armor and a bow and sword.
He also had a partition in gold...We havent set that up in years. I am going to have to look for it.
