Bitcoiner and YouTuber Oliver Velez put out a challenge to win 1 million sats. The challenge was to walk at least 14k steps a day every day until the halving (April 3rd - April 20th). This is a link to my thread where I tracked my journey daily with a 1 minute video recap of each day 1-17 and a screenshot of my steps https://x.com/NEEDcreations/status/1775706558896148588
I didn't win the challenge, because multiple people completed it and the tie breaker was total steps (the winner walked 2.5x more total steps than me, including 100,000+ steps on the last day!). Even though I didn't win, I was very proud of my dedication and persistence to get this done. You can do anything that you put your mind to!
Brief summary: Day 1 was a rainy, cold day, and I thought to myself, "If I can complete 14k on this day, then the rest will be easy!" Days 2-4 were ok, but I already developed blisters on my feet and they were pretty painful. Days 5-6 I kind of wanted to quit, but I kept going. Days 7-10 I had very busy days IRL so I had to dedicated very specific times to get the steps in, but I still was able to do it! Days 11-14 I was really getting in a rhythm and 14k was just part of my normal day. Days 15-17 were easiest because I could see the finish line!
Tips:
  • At my walking pace I got about 100 steps per minute. That comes to 140 minutes of straight walking every day to get to 14k steps. Not too bad of a commitment when you think about it! I promise you, there is enough time in the day to complete it if you set your mind to it!
  • I'm a school teacher, and I get about 4 minutes in between each class. I used those 4 minutes to get at least 500 steps in around the halls. This really helped.
  • Some days, I split up my walks into 3-4k segments. This only takes about a half hour each. This made getting 14k much more manageable. Every time I got to 10k, I just though, "I only have 4k more!"
  • I started adding jogging to my steps about 2/3 of the way through the challenge and that really sped things up. I'm currently 34 years old and over 300 pounds and I haven't really jogged in probably 15 years. It felt AMAZING jogging again, and I was so happy that I started. I'm jogging every time I go to the gym nowadays.
What I learned about myself:
  • I learned that if I set my mind to something, I can do it
  • I learned that even a 300 pound man can jog. No excuses!
  • I learned that prioritizing health makes your whole life better. I felt amazing during the challenge (besides a few blisters) and I've used this positive momentum to increase my daily workouts at the gym and walking/jogging outside
Since becoming a Bitcoin maxi and seeing the truth, loyalty and good health from most of the Bitcoiners I meet, I have been trying really hard to get back in good shape. You can track most of my journey by searching the hashtag #NEEDhealth on Twitter.
Thanks for reading, and God bless!
*shoutout to my friend Sunny who tagged me in Oliver's post which alerted me to the challenge!!

I feel this would be a bit unfair. If l was a walking postman, l could easily get the stepsandbepaid at the same time. It would be hard for anyone to beat me, right? I wouldnt even have to change my routine.
