We are hiring.

Want to attach my wallet via LNC but I how do I set a limit? And if I need to blow past the limit to make a payment or a large zap to someone would I have to do it outside of my LNC wallet.

reply

Click the help next to pairing phrase. It'll tell you the commands you need to use to get it.

You can also use the lightning-terminal GUI to create a session with a budget. create -> select custom -> next -> select custodial account -> set budget -> save.

reply

Getting this error:

invalid config: CompileError: Refused to create a WebAssembly object because 'unsafe-eval' or 'wasm-unsafe-eval' is not an allowed source of script in the following Content Security Policy directive:

What does this mean? Did I not enter my LNC words correctly?

reply

Hmmm that's a bug on our end. I'll open a gh ticket for it, but it might take me a few days to fix it. I'll comment back here when we've figured it out!

Thanks !!

So if wallet limit is 100k it will automatically withdraw anything beyond 100k to my attached wallet?

Then I will zap people and be below 100k and when it is time to pay territory rent I won't have enough sats to cover and will have to deposit to exactly 100k and that will get auto withdrawn and I will have to deposit again to ensure I have sats in my SN wallet.

Is this correct? If so, it doesn't seem optimal.

reply

You have always been able to pay for your territory with an invoice. For any paid action on the site, if your wallet doesn’t have sufficient balance, an invoice pops up.

You set your own auto withdraw limits.

reply

Yes I am aware. I wasn't implying it wasn't possible. I was just saying it is not optimal. Maybe wallet limit should be 110k considering territories.

reply

I see. Let’s give a run and see how it goes first.

reply

I agree with @grayruby, this is a hassle/annoying.

Just change to 120k.

Or

Perhaps territory ownership could come with higher limit.

reply

I agree with both of you for the record. Infinite custodial balances have the best UX.

reply

Doesn't need to be infinite.

reply

I just meant larger custodial balances have better UX than smaller ones. People paying yearly territories will want the limit higher than the yearly cost too.

We are progressively moving to a non-custodial experience. Every increment will inconvenience us, but we need the inconvenience so we can learn how to deal with it.

I still haven't written up a detailed post on our plans. I'll try to write something up this weekend.

It's possible for MSM rewards (or even a solid bounty) to put someone over their wallet limit. What happens if someone's wallet breaks 100k in a single transaction?

reply

The limits only apply to funds coming from outside of SN. If someone zaps you 100k+ sats, it will go to you account as always.

reply

I think this is a source of great confusion for many. I’m not sure where, but it may be good to add extra clarity around this somewhere

reply

Is the banner on the wallet itself confusing? Or just the announcement of the limit is confusing?

Your wallet is over the current limit (100k sats)
Deposits to your wallet from outside of SN are blocked.
Please spend or withdraw sats to restore full wallet functionality.
reply

Oh no the banner is clear! Just the announcement I think.

So next step is a "compliance token" for SN?

reply

Next step is e2e noncustodial zaps beta.

reply

ah damn it, I can't launder anymore on SN 😂😂

reply

What is e2e?

reply

End to end

reply

Could we use an external custodial wallet to receive zaps?
We've got fewer and fewer option every day.

Not sure it's worth leaking our private utxo for a few sats

reply

The way we're implementing e2e noncustodial zaps they will hide the receiver's pubkey.

reply

Great job, everyone!

Don't forget zaps with random sats values.

reply

What happens if you dont attach an external wallet?
Cant go above 100k?

reply

You can't deposit funds to go above 100k, yes. You can still get zapped by others on SN to go above 100k though. The limit is only about deposits. We will show this in the wallet page if you're above the limit:

Your wallet is over the current limit (100k sats)
Deposits to your wallet from outside of SN are blocked.
Please spend or withdraw sats to restore full wallet functionality.

With an attached wallet, these limits still apply to your custodial wallet but if you don't have enough funds in your custodial wallet (because of the limits for example), we'll try your attached wallet.

reply

How does the limit work with territories?

reply

If you’re talking about paying for territories, you’ll pay with an attached wallet or an invoice that pops up if you don’t have an attached wallet.

reply

And is there a time limit by when the invoice has to be paid? Does it show up in notifications?

reply

It pops up when you hit the pay button. The same pay button you hit to pay with your custodial wallet.

reply

I haven't paid with the custodial wallet, so I don't know how that works. I always just see the 100k disappear from my total 😄

So I was worried that I'm not going to get notified and I'm going to lose the territory...

reply

It sends you a notification everyday for five days once your territory payment is due. The notification has a pay button on it. Also you’ll see a banner at the top of the territory when you visit it.

reply

Ok, that makes sense! Although it could result in some (rare) unintentional loss of territory.

Search your bookmarks. Once they're done indexing, you can go to search and search something and select bookmarks from the dropdown. (via @WeAreAllSatoshi)

I feel like bookmarks are one of the more under-appreciated features on SN, and I hope this gets more folks to take advantage of them.

reply

Lol, how are supposed to launder with 100k limit?

reply

Launder is a shitty word. It makes it seem illegitimate.

reply

Lol wee ooo wee ooo wee ooo, the language police is here
