Step 0 - Put your device in Airplane Mode (for safety sake)
In Samourai, tap the Paynym icon at the top left & go to settings. In that settings menu, you'll use two features:
- Wallet -> View Seed
- Troubleshoot -> Passphrase/Backup test
In Sparrow:
- Import in the standard way, a 12-word seed + the passphrase (no special derivation is needed)
- From the Settings menu click the "Add Account" button
- Scroll down to Whirlpool
After following these steps, You'll see 4 new accounts added:
Badbank
Postmix
Premix
Deposit
LOL scamurai users are afraid now?
Why?
thanks for the snark.
i didn't want to use the app anymore because DOJ made the functionality stop working
a virus can get your seed and save it and then send it as soon as you put airplane mode off again.
i'm not worried about a virus, i'm worried about any call home by the Samourai app w/ my xpub
I followed the steps but am still seeing no transactions. I see that the zpub and xpub match between both wallets, and am scanning back far enough that I should see the transactions. What steps might I be missing?
do you see 4 new accounts added on the left side of Sparrow interface?
nevermind. I'm an idiot. I had it connected to my node, which happens to be down atm, so it wasn't even scanning for transactions properly. Everything works now. Thanks for your help!
Yes, I do. I'm not sure how to find the master fingerprint within Samourai, but I've tried both with and without my passphrase, and it's still showing no coins and no history. Coins are still in Samourai, postmix wallet.
Everything's just got 'Samourai-Samourai' on SN.
As far as I know, Samourai is self custodial and top notch privacy oriented wallet. So users need not worry at all.
That's unfortunately not the case if people used Whirlpool in Samourai.
My funds (including Whirlpool in Samourai) were recovered by importing the 12-words into Sparrow and following the steps in #517530
Yeah, I agree you can recover all your funds, which is great, but the privacy of those mixed UTXOs is likely broken. So assume they can be linked to you.
Oh totally. Currently in the process of moving them elsewhere.
if you're moving them without mixing in the process, you're just burning tx fees
