These app stores are central points of censorship. I actually assumed Signal was already unavailable on iOS in China. So much of the privacy space is dominated by US and European people or maybe that's just because I only speak English. I wonder how many people in China even concern themselves with privacy. I have no idea.

Well they can’t stop all the Nostr relays!

Unless they stop all HTTPS traffic.
Or block downloads of clients.

Telegram can be used also as FOSS,, no need for play store shit https://github.com/Telegram-FOSS-Team/Telegram-FOSS If you really want a private chat:
  1. start a private nostr relay
  2. use 0xchat over nostr https://github.com/0xchat-app/0xchat-app-main
I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHY PEOPLE ARE SO FUCKING DUMB USING PLAY STORES

I thought they would have been unavailable for a while now. They banned google and YouTube about 15 years ago

My guess is that these aren't that widely used in China but I could be wrong.

That's a great news for Nostr.

Its inevitable. The state hates personal sovereignty, privacy, and encryption. This will only need to more censorship resistant tools like Nostr.
