Spending your bitcoins for sango coins is not a smart decision.

Using your nation to rugpull your citizens and others. Disgusting.

I don't think they are expecting many from within CAR to be investors. But the wording ... "Sango backed by bitcoin" really meaning "we will issue a bitcoin token on Sango blockchain", and "backed by the country's resources", ... all that is misleading and something a shitcoiner would do.
Shame on the advisors that suggested this and the facilitators that built this abomination. Embarrassing, for one. And a risk to future prospects of bitcoin gaining explicit "legal tender" status elsewhere (using the "legal to use" for transactions definition, not the "must be accepted for payment of a debit" definition in the U.S. and some other places).

Some day we will look back at this era and laugh heartily at the blatant shitcoinery. It's just embarrassing for a nation state to go down this road IMO. Imagine a large country with a strong military adopting WokeCoin. Beyond parody. 🤣

Imagine just adopting Bitcoin

Feels like there's a story here that didn't get much media coverage. Does that mean the "bitcoin becomes legal tender" law in Central Africa Republic gets repealed? That's what @TheAfricaReport is reporting.

Being backed by bitcoin, therefore, means “Sango will be able to operate with wrapped Bitcoin (s-BTC) in the Sango ecosystem.”
The press release also said, “benefits include, partial decentralization and no risks of de-pegs, differentiating SANGO from stablecoins and CBDCs and ensuring that current monetary problems will be surpassed.”
