If 1 sat = 1 sat, halving is making it harder to stack sats. Ought you not be upset? The attitudes in this community never fail to baffle me.
I think for some people it's just a bitcoin centric kind of holiday, like New Year's Eve or something. In that case it may just be a comraderie thing, rather than an NGU thing.

exactly
reply
Yup this is it. Just a fun Bitcoin holiday.
reply
No, they have no idea what is coming. Their focus is on "hey let's party because we have no clue what is bitcoin"
Are they still happy now?
And this is just the beginning.... as I warned so many times before. Passing through 4 halvings helped me see things others can't see them at first sight.
reply
The celebration is more like, hey, Bitcoin survived another 4 years.
Right now Bitcoin is broken for many people. I think this will make more people to finally learn about L2s and actually use them.
reply
Bitcoin is nor broken. People are. They lack of knowledge.
reply
I know it is not broken. I should have said they cannot use Bitcoin right now temporarily. I can understand your frustration with people. For someone like you that spends time trying to educate making great guides and information out there, and yet there is lack of knowledge. They will always go to shitcoins like flies. It is not your fault.
reply
Because the bitcoin monetary policy works. It's a reason to celebrate and be excited.
reply
I love me a good supply shock!
reply
Because this is the first one I’m going to be around for. I wasn’t into Bitcoin for the other halving.
Joining Nostr last year is what onboarded me. I haven’t looked back since!
reply
I'm exited because it's like New Year. All-around celebrate it while it just makes you older
reply
Transaction fees are designed to cover the block reward eventually. It's by design.
It's a clever solution to a difficult problem, and it is working.
Remember this was designed and started about 15 years ago, and it is still working flawlessly...
Every halving builds more confidence in Bitcoin.

On my side I saw this as a buying opportunity thanks to the drawdown from 70k. But I am not specifically happy about the halving, nor sad, it is just a confirmation of Bitcoin being a good means for savings. That being said the more I see spam on the network, the more I agree with Luke Dashjr. I have looked today at what kind of pictures people were talking about for ordinals, it's hard to even call this art... Now I will have to patiently wait to reopen a channel on Lightning and use that to send bitcoins haha.
reply
Because it's going to happen every four years (ish) for the next 116-ish years.
reply
Although it becomes harder to stack sats, the sats that you do have increases in purchasing power. 1 sat = 1 sat, but with the supply shock, 1 sat = more things. Why shouldn't I be happy about that?
reply
I mean, I'm still celebrating my birthday even if that meant that I'm getting older.
I think it's fun to celebrate important milestones in Bitcoin even if that means that it will be harder to stack sats.
reply
Because most of them are fiat maxis and think only to NgU.
reply
Since when maxis give a crap about NgU?
reply
Look at the fees now. Are you still in "happy halving" mode?
reply
I noticed, miners are partying! Good for them… It doesn’t really changed anything for me, as I plan my onchain transactions and use more LN those days
reply
I survived 4th halvings and I always was worried about this aspect: I will get less and less sats. Each time for me was a brutal shock. And this one is the most worried now. Only fiat maxis could cheer up for halving, because they will always think that the price is NgU... they are wrong. You will get less and less sats. And that's not a reason to cheer up and party.
reply
ah ok, I get it! Things change, it was more fun before, I agree. But now, each sat has more purchasing power, isn't that much more important? Who cares about halvening, bitcoin still going... tik tok, next block, bitcoin does not care. Are just numbers!
