I've heard people talking on youtube that the next wave of spam

[called runes][1]

is coming. How do I protect the mempool and its users against it? I

[run Bitcoin Knots][2]

. I use

datacarrier=0
permitbaremultisig=0

in my bitcoin.conf. Would it stop runes spam from being propagated by my node?

I've heard that for some strange reason they were spamming mostly testnet so far, and that now for some reason they are going to switch to mainnet. Why is that?

This will cause your node to not relay runes. Do note that this can cause your node to have inaccurate fee estimates and if you're doing something like running a lightning node then it could cause security issues

reply

I prefer to have inaccurate fee estimates than propagate spam.

Would be good if lnd could also filter htlcs (optionally.) I imagine LN will be spammy as well.
