I don't give a shit. I still use Telegram.
Privacy means you are doing something that is only in your private life, not on internet. Learn the differences between private and public. People nowadays consider that what are you doing on internet is private. It is not. It is PUBLIC. So that's why you should use a fake identity on internet. That will be your strawman, your "public face" that have absolutely nothing with your private life.
If you want privacy with your real life, then STAY AWAY FROM INTERNET.
So what options are there? If you want to have a private conversation between yourself and a loved one that is far away how would you communicate? Can't use SMS, can't use phone, can't use most chat tools, can't really use email.
Seems like you'd have to use something like PGP or ProtonMail for email. For chat it seems like maybe SimpleX or Signal? Or, are you saying you just can't have private conversations anymore unless it's in-person?
In-person is great, but if family lives thousands of miles away then what options are there? I guess you could maybe send snail mail, but that's going to really slow down the conversation.

For secured private chat, why don't you use https://0xchat.com/ over nostr? Start your own private nostr relay and add only your loved ones nostr pubkeys. Absolutely nobody will be able to read your private msgs.
Emails? If you still use email for business, run and host your own email server. Is not that hard. Then create accounts for your family, friends, business partners and exchange emails privately. You can run a email server even on a shity PC or a NAS.
