Interesting. I thought this was already the case. I believe they can't compel you to enter a code because that is something you know not something you have. Its BS either way.

That was my thought too. I’m pretty sure this has been the result in other court cases as well.

I think this is just the courts saying the practice isn’t a violation of the 5th amendment.
I wonder what’s been tried so far. Then again I’m not sure what other protest you can make.

Best practice is to shutdown phone when in this situation. Then passcode is required.

TIP: In iPhone you can discretely block biometric login by simultaneously pressing volume & lock buttons. You can easily do that even in the pocket or while taking the phone out.
