ok, procrastination.
it's that thing we do to avoid real world responsibilities. everyone falls victim to it in some way somehow, and we are all innately aware of it. i did it all the time growing up, and i catch myself doing it to this day.
but why is it that we just let precious time fly by, knowing that the things we need to get done can be done, but we are choosing not to do them?
i think it's because humans (at least the ones in the west) take time for granted. and this also goes back to how we hardly ever think about the present moment. when we put things off until the last possible minute, and delay things in favor of "other important" priorities, we're always thinking and anticipating what is ahead of us. and never what is directly in front of us.
the voice inside your head that provokes procrastination probably speaks along the lines of:
"oh it's fine, i can put it off for a few hours."
but then those few hours turn into the next day. and then the next day. and maybe a week goes by. then a month. or a year. (depending on what said task is).
i guess what i am getting at here is procrastination never makes us think about the now. it always has us thinking about the future, and something i have come to internalize is tomorrow is never a promise. i guarantee you that 90% of the tasks you are putting off are either very easy or you just don't have the drive to start whatever it is you need to start.
if you give yourself at least five minutes to do whatever it is you need to do, that's better than not beginning at all. even if it means something as simple as getting into your car, train, or bus, to get to that important place, or making your bed in the morning so your room looks a little less ugly. the small things add up, and will encourage you to keep going. it's also a really good feeling getting things done when you know you have the time to, and you have time left in the day to do other things you feel you have had "no time for".
to put it blatantly: do yourself a favor and just fucking start, and stop thinking about putting that said thing off. you will find it makes life alot easier not just in your day to day, but in the long term.

Living in the past can be depressing, living in the future can cause anxiety, but living in the present could provide more calm and peace in your mind and body.

this is so so true! bringing thoughts to both of these is so draining. the present is what should always be focused on because that is what truly matters.

Excellent advice, even if it hard to follow šŸ˜ It was a huge breakthrough when I realized some of my procrastination was allowing fear to control my life and feeding into my depression. Taking the 5 minutes to get moving on a task was key for me.. it usually is not as overwhelming as it seems in my projections

This is easy to say....but... If you arent pressed to finish or start something, then is it really procrastination? You are just setting an unrealistic start time, right?

Procrastination is my longest known friend. I hate him daily, even hourly...
I have tried all systems out there to stop or lessen my procrastination, and it works in shorter time frames until it simply doesn't work anymore.
What you say here works seldomly. Just doing it. At one point in time that'll be the action taken, but rarely until I really feel the stress and anxiety of the upcoming deadline.

Correct words, this is something very complicated to deal with, since I am in bitcoin, dedicated more seriously to learning, I can say that now I tend to procrastinate less, and look for tools or tricks to improve the effectiveness of my concentration and carry out my tasks day by day. day. Although there are days when I get out of line, it is normal, we are not robots.

There's two sides to procrastination imo, sometimes procrastinating on something just means its not as important as you think it is- it often works out as a prioritization tool. If something is REALLY REALLY important to do now, you'll do it.
