In less than a century, Argentina went from being one of the world’s wealthiest nations to one that struggles with poverty and massive inflation. Human Action provides lasting wisdom to improve life in that country.
Milei is crazy but he is not a statist.
I am disappointed so many SN users hate him

I wouldn't say I'm disappointed, but it does seem like we may as well give him chance to live up to the expectations he set.

Aregentina needs to recover from the dogmatic world of over-patriotism and infuse its economy with some fresh blood of open market. They are still very sluggish in terms of exporting their otherwise abundant products.
reply
Some of the difficulty with exporting from Argentina is just geographic. Argentina is quite far away from most markets and it produces a lot of the same stuff as closer markets.

Argentina is one of the world's major exporters of soybeans and wheat, as well as meat. It is also one of the largest producers of wool and wine, but most of its wine is consumed domestically.
They can gain a lot from wine if they start exporting it. In fact, they overconsume it.
reply
I think you're right about wine. That's a high unit value good.
On soybeans and wheat they're competing with Brazil and America who are closer to everyone else, so Argentina has to eat the extra transportation costs which makes those industries a little bit less profitable than they are elsewhere.
I don't know much about wool, but NZ and Australia are closer to the Asian markets and I think Europe still produces wool.
reply
I only meant it for wine. Actually, they have this best product to sell, highly demanded everywhere, but sadly they themselves consume it.
