Honestly embarrassed I didn't think of this classic yesterday. It's about a planet that never sees darkness, because of the multiple stars in its system, and what happens when that changes.

Asimov is one of my dad's favourite authors. I never really got into Sci-Fi even when I did read fiction but this sounds like a really interesting read. I might have to snag it from him next time I take my little one over for a visit.

There's both the original short story (which I'm sure your dad has in a collection) and also an expanded novel that Robert Silverberg (another great of the era) co-wrote with Asimov twenty years later. I like them both, but if you've got a preference for one format over the other, that might be something to consider.

I will go treasure hunting in the basement next time I am over at my parents place. At one point my dad had over a thousand books and a thousand records but he has sold some, donated some of the books over the years. Still a healthy collection.
