I know, I know. I should have gotten rid of my fiat mindset and did my accounting in sats instead. So, in the two months since then, I earned about 250k sats - mostly from Stacker News. 250,744 sats to be exact. I mean, sometimes I withdraw a hundred sats here and there from Fountain and Yzer - but that’s it. All my other sources of sats have dried up.
Here’s the lowdown on my transactions. I posted earlier about using my March Million Sats Madness earnings to pay for two bills on AXS. I’m glad to diversify my use of sats and not have to rely on Bitrefill only.
Bitcoin Purchases
  1. 16/2/2024 - Decided to strengthen my patience and wait until I accumulate enough sats to buy a $20 worth of food takeout voucher from Bitrefill. Got it today for 28525 sats like a BOSS! ZBD took a 310 sats fee. Received 285 sats to partially fund my next spending yay 🎉 . Used it on 22/2.
  2. 22/2/2024 - Delayed gratification again by waiting until I had enough sats to buy $20 worth of supermarket vouchers from Bitrefill. Voucher was 31262 sats. ZBD took a 320 sat fee. Bitrefill returned me 313 sats as cashback. Eager to go shopping for groceries! Used it on 3 March.
  3. 1/3/2024 - Thanks to Bitcoin’s pump, I just needed 30180 sats to buy a $25 worth of Grab food takeout voucher from Bitrefill. Paid 305 sats as transaction fee and got back 302 sats as cashback. Unfortunately, used it on the very day itself (1 March) because wife had to work overtime.
  4. 8/3/2024 - Spent 16708 sats to buy a $15 GrabFood voucher from Bitrefill. Zebedee charged 171 sats for the transaction. but Bitrefill did give me 167 sats as cashback, so it wasn’t too bad. Used it on McDonald’s takeout.
  5. 12/3/2024 - Used 11,273 sats to buy a $10 NTUC supermarket voucher from Bitrefill. Zebedee charged me 116 sats for the transaction. Bitrefill gave me 113 sats as cashback. Intending to use it tomorrow to buy toothpaste and mouth washer.
  6. 25/3/2024 - Used 24,049 sats to buy a $20 NTUC voucher from Bitrefill. Zebedee charged me 244 sats for the transaction. Bitrefill gave me 240 sats as cashback. Spent the voucher on 31 Mar on Asahi beer & wasabi chips.
  7. 1/4/2024 - Used 35,453 sats to pay for my NTUC Income insurance premium worth $32.50. Zebedee charged me 400 sats for the transaction.
  8. 2/4/2024 - Used 37,992 sats to partially pay for my utilities bill worth $35. Zebedee charged me 384 sats for the transaction.
  9. 2/4/2024 - Used 21,186 sats to buy a GrabFood voucher worth $20. Zebedee charged me 216 sats for the transaction. Bitrefill gave me 212 sats as cashback. Spent it on 5/4 on Mos Burger meals via takeout.
  10. 7/4/2024 - Used 11,536 sats to buy a NTUC supermarket voucher worth $10. Zebedee charged me 118 sats for the honour. Bitrefill gave me 115 sats as cashback. Spent it the same day on puffs for my daughter.
Things I noted
  1. I should have kept to the same style so that it’s easier for me to analyse my transactions. You noticed that I adopted the same template for the later transactions. I need to learn how to tabulate figures into a chart on Markdown to achieve a clean-cut presentation.
  2. Spent 250,744 sats, on which 248,164 sats were used to buy gift cards and pay bills. Another 2584 sats were used for transaction fees. Earning about a quarter of a million sats in 2 months is not too shabby!
  3. Got back 1747 sats from Bitrefill as cashback.
  4. Thanks to Bitcoin appreciation, I no longer need so many sats to buy a voucher compared to just two months ago. NGU!
  5. The fiat equivalent is $207.50. Safe to conclude that I’m stacking more sats these days.
I hope this motivates someone out there. It sure encourages me haha.
It's so cool to me that you're actually funding some of your expenses off of SN earnings.
Don't worry, I'm working on my profit taking post. It's proving a little difficult to write in a way that I think will be interesting and useful to anyone other than myself.

I used to use SN earnings to buy gas gift cards prior to the launch of territories. I have never looked at what I have in lightning wallets as part of my stack.

I think having such a clear distinction allows us to spend sats happily! Spend n recycle
reply
Nope, I wasn’t going to nag at you this time round haha.
I have been nagging at my irl ex-teacher colleague to get his nomination for our national annuity retirement fund done for the longest time, though. He has resisted me so far, but I’m persistent

Why do you move your sats from SN to ZBD? Pay directly from SN your spending invoices. SN is a perfect decoy for such things. ZBD is full KYC and also is google play dependent, that means full tracking. Yes, you bought some meaningless groceries, nobody will bother for that, but is better to avoid these things.
reply
You know what? It just never occurred to me to spend directly from my SN wallet! I will do so with immediate effect. Thanks

I even don't get this much salary. I only earn $200 in 3 months here in my country. I'm not jealous of you but I wish I could also work hard like you and your wife.
Congratulations sense!!

Yup this is a decent salary in many countries. Could probably make this amount copying popular posts from /r/bitcoin

I think r/Bitcoin is kinda dead these days haha

This is why SN is a godsend. It gives us the chance to stack sats for better financial health.
Keep fighting the good fight

I guess it kind of ramps up after you have made so many posts. Even old posts can get sats when read by the right people. I do have a question though, did you find that more of your sats came from recent posts or posts and comments that you made in the past?
reply
Recent. It’s like being on a treadmill. I must post n comment consistently every day. Luckily for me I’m addicted to the dopamine rush haha. I can share openly that I withdraw 1000 sats every day

that's amazing, but if you're using bitrefill and you're collecting cash back.. You've KYCed?
reply
I didn’t have to submit my passport or other documents of identification, but I did register for an account using a throwaway email address.
Sorry for the late reply.

That's great Sensei! And I'm sure you'll soon have more Satoshis on your account!
