Woah, you know I’m Singaporean, right? Okay, my view may not be representative of my fellow countrymen, but this is how I feel:
Well it’s a fine piece of architecture, but I can’t help feeling that it’s something specially constructed to seduce the well-heeled tourists n investors. It’s not meant for us heartlander Singaporeans.
I guess I’m grateful how pragmatic my government is in terms of hyping up interest n making money lol, but I wish it were more authentic rather than puffing up this sleek image.
In any case, if you ever visit Singapore, I would love to meet you and give you the dirt on my fascinating country haha
I actually didn't know that!
I appreciate your insight here -- there's no question how a city is presented to the world is not always in alignment with how it might really be there for locals.
And yes, if I ever do make it there, would love to meet up!
