Somewhere in the middle.

I'd recommend looking in southern Indiana or eastern Tennessee, first. Their climates aren't terrible, they both have pretty forests and hills, the cost of living is low, and they have low tax burdens.

But to live in the USA you need a Green Card...and that is not easy to get neither cheap.

True, but incomes are higher here (almost 2x) and you're losing a lot less to taxes.

Also, my motivation is selfish. I want more people around who also hate taxes.
