Yes, it was a miracle that we got back on the Google Play Store.
And Orange Pill app was the reason I've met IRL a Bitcoiner from the same town where I live and we both went to PubKey NYC and met @siggy47.

Nostr is open and public OPA is closed and private
hard to see how the 2 could work together, but we're open to ideas
Outside the App, which approaches do you see best performing to orange pill people?
Why do we need a pay to participate, orange pill app when we have nostr and stacker news?
As the saying goes: "if something is free you are the product". Building, maintaining, and promoting an app is very expensive. By asking everybody to pay to use the app we eliminate the noise (bots, scams, spammers, shipcoiners, fake account, etc...) and we will never have to track or sell your data to the highest bidder. This way, we can remain independent and prioritize our members first.
I guess nostr and bictoin are exceptions to that rule. Not sure why I need something like that, when we have other tools that are free to use without making the users the product. Good luck
Nostr is great for finding plebs online. OPA is great for finding plebs offline.
Completely different products
You can find people on nostr and meetup in person btw. I have done it. Opa is an app that is online.
meetups are great but are not scalable.
I don't get it. Isn't the orange pill app so you can meet people online to meet in person. Isn't that a meetup?
meetups require an organizer and a venue. with OPA you can meet other bitcoiners as you see fit.

Have you considered your can help local villains to find their casualties?
Yes, we have considered this at length, which is why we don't let anybody in the app without paying and so far the paywall has kept all the villains away.
Also, we don't verify anything so members can be as anonymous as they like and only reveal their identities to other members as they see fit.

Exactly, the idea of charging everybody to join OPA came from thinking about proof of work.
How to do you manage the GPS Data? Is that app open source?
We're not open source. The device's approximate geolocation is pulled once per app session.

As far as I know, no other product 1) aggressively filters for Bitcoiners (via the paywall) and 2) allows them to find nearby members, events, and merchants.
In short, Orange Pill App solves the problem of local discovery & coordination amongst high-signal bitcoiners.

What's been the best marketing channel for you guys?
Mostly Twitter and word of mouth, especially in the early days. Nowadays we see a big spike in signups every time me or Brian go on a Bitcoin podcast.
