You're trying to make a point by going all-in on the "we're helping them" argument, but fact is: people don't think nor care about whether or not we're "helping" them with our consumerism, or not. That's it. People go there because it's pretty and cheap, not because they wanna do good.

I grew up in a shittier place than western standard, and if it wasn't for westerners coming here because is pretty and cheaper, my standard of living would be much worse. I get your msg, but it's not that simple.
