As a Christian I am hopeful that innovation in financial software systems can help us move towards a society that is both more equitable and less obsessed with money. Is this a non-sequitur or do you think there could possibly be enough people with a similar goal working in fintech to move the needle?

I'm sure it'll move the needle regardless. Right now, almost everyone worships money whether they recognize it or not. Think about how many people act like more money would solve whatever problems they have. That's the real destruction of the fiat mentality.
Bitcoin will show us that there are lots of problems that can't be solved by money and that we need something else... or someone else ;)
