Hello Stackers!
It's Thursday so we're jumping in our time machine again and throwing back to a time when life was simpler and we didn't have to be responsible 🤣
This week I'm throwing back to this crazy gal, driving a piano down a road!
Vanessa Carlton - a thousand miles!
I wonder what sort of MPG she got... 🤔

Starting the day with this!

I remember this album getting released. Phenomenal album! Great throwback, I'd not heard the chilis in a long while. Flea is still for more one of the all time greats for bassists.
reply
Without a doubt, he is one of the best bassists, the whole band has always been very good, and I miss the great Frusciante.
reply
Frusciante was fantastic. Really under rated musician.

One of my favorite 70's songs

Such a stunning track. I got two covers for you of it.
reply
Evanescence is wonderful!

I'm throwing in a 'Prelude And Nostalgia'.
Greatest of All, Yanni.

Let's go! 👊 Cracking track. I need to go look at this yanni guy some more, really cool composition! This guy is great! I'd not heard any of his stuff before, cheers for sharing 👊

Magnum! Dayum that's a band I've not thought to listen to in aaagggeessss. Great shout 0b1.

I had to dig deep in to the grey matter for these two. I've seen these guys a few times in the very early nineties, good shows. On one occasion they were supported by Kiss of the Gypsy, damn good night.
reply
They kinda fell by the wayside and kinda got lost in the crowd of all the other bands doing the same thing. Like Def leppard for example. They have that very similar sound.
reply
They weren't the young cool guys and their older material was all wizards and fantasy, on a similar vain to Rainbow, but not as good. They did have a crack at the American market but they were too late for that in the early 90's. They were always destined to be a mid level UK band with a few hardcore followers. Their Wings of Heaven album was their best shot at mainstream rock and it was pretty good.
reply
Shame really cos like you said that wings of heaven album is really good.

The Sky is Crying - Albert King

https://youtube.com/watch?v=4l5IdDb2Xxs&pp=ygUdYWxiZXJ0IGtpbmcgdGhlIHNreSBpcyBjcnlpbmc%3D I was going to put this in the music saloon, then I realized it was throwback Thursday! Now to come up with another song for the saloon. 🤔

I love days like today. I get double the amount of fun and awesome tracks to listen to
reply
It is pretty great! Although it would be difficult to get anyone to agree on a year I think most of my music would be classified as throwback.
reply
I feel like a throwback is only really relative to that person. It's just a track that takes you personally back to a specific time and place. As like you eluded to, some tracks throw back further than others 🤣
reply
Ah, true. My thought process was taking me elsewhere!
I'm not old enough to remember when most of my favorite songs came out, but they do take me back a few years. I had never been a big music fan when I was younger, but I started getting into it when I got my first job. The place where I worked had a rotation where they played a different decade of music each day of the week. I always looked forward to the three days where they did the 60's to the 80's! Most of the later music I didn't care about much, what they played got less interesting and repetitive.

Mine was influenced heavily by my folks playing their records around the house. Never really found myself into the pop stuff of my youth, always older and more rock.
reply
Parents can definitely be a big influence on tastes! Mine weren't really music listeners, so I didn't pick up a lot from them.
I listened to mostly older country and rock until I bought my first acoustic guitar. I soon found myself making up blues style instrumentals with it, and enjoying the sound of what I was playing made me look into blues and jazz a lot more.

Once I fell down the rock/metal rabbit hole it really opened me up to being appreciative of artist talent and then I could branch out into other genres.

Sweet track. Almost Radiohead vibes or aerosmith sorta. I can't really place it. But it was good.

José Monje Cruz (5 December 1950 – 2 July 1992), better known by his stage name Camarón de la Isla, was a Spanish Romani flamenco singer. Considered one of the all-time greatest flamenco singers, he was noted for his collaborations with Paco de Lucía and Tomatito, and the three of them were of major importance to the revival of flamenco in the second half of the 20th century.[1]
