Zaps to this post (or into my DMs any time) contribute to 100K monthly territory fee. I'm looking for at least 55K in order to renew. LMK in the comments if you zap large sums.

Starting a Treasury

Any excess above the requested amount (this month is 55K) will be added to what I'm calling a Territory Treasury (TT). Governance is TBD. I'm mulling various ideas, and will likely wait until it is a decent size, before committing it to anything of significance. I'm mulling inspiration from a Tontine for ~econ contributors combined with PoW -- without making a security. I hope donors will appreciate gaining material influence over the design and plans, naturally at their convenience. Will leave for comments or another post.
Current Treasury is 9K sats, as a result of last months' contributions.

Owner's Pledge

If this territory ever runs a cumulative net profit, I'll find a way to do right by the earliest contributors. There is no guarantee of that scenario. Most likely, it'll take the form of "pay-it-forward"-style BTC-adoption/effort/charity.

Accounting Ledger Notes

Prior Post is #448054

Crowd Funded Contributions for March

@Undisciplined 30K x 90% = 27K* @OriginalSize 30K x 90% = 27K* Anons 5.6K x 90% = 5K*
Requested = 50K Received = 59K*(+ increase to revenue from the above posts)
The territory now has a 9K Treasury.
* - I'm marking contributions this way because I'd like to be able to use the official SN revenue numbers rather than tally my own adjusted number. Given that you can DM me zaps, and your contribution counts 100%, this x 90% method of accounting seems the most sane although still a bit screwy.

Territory Revenue for March

~20.4K

Operational Metrics at Time of Accounting:

532.9k stacked \ 43.6k revenue \ 611k spent \ 1418 posts \ 5148 comments

Disclaimer

Do not donate with the expectation of receiving a share of future profits. This is not a security offering.
Did you drop the per post cost to 10 sats, as part of this process or has it always been that low?
Seems to me given the traction that the territory has in terms of posts per week (which I mentioned in #486959) that you could very feasibly double the revenue to make up the shortfall.

100 sats to post is a great minimum.

It's always been that low. That was the default when territories launched. Haven't changed it.
If the average post earns ~600 sats, revenue from that average post is 30 sats.
At some post-cost, one revenue source starts to cannibalize the other. Just don't know where that might be.
Edit: I've just raised it to 21 sats. We'll see if post-rates drop.
* - I'm marking contributions this way because I'd like to be able to use the official SN revenue numbers eventually, and write script for this accounting, rather than tally my own adjusted revenue numbers. Given that you can DM me zaps, and your contribution counts 100%, this x 90% method of accounting seems the most sane although still a bit screwy. Open to other suggestions, but I think it works.

Threw a couple k sats in the pot to support a great territory.

Thank you @grayruby!
reply
I would suggest you to keep the post rates at 99 Sats.
reply
Its never been 99.
reply
Why not give it a try for some time?
reply
Because it will inhibit contributions.
reply
Ohhh! Okay. That's coll then, I thought it because some territories like 'bitcoin' and 'bitcoin beginners' have +90 sats per post, still they get good contribution.
reply
Pretty good revenue. I'll suggest doubling the posting fee. It's falling well behind most of the other territories and even after doubling would still be one of the cheapest.
I got a bank error in my favor last month so I don't mind making a big deposit into the treasury this month.
April donation: 60k

Amazing! Thank you!
I was on the fence about raising the posting cost, but given your influence - done!

Zapped another 30k for April. Thanks for the metrics and continuing to work toward sustainability.
