I broke into the Top 10 for March’s MSM. I don’t know if it’s due to me posting like a maniac or the bug caused by the Daylight Savings, but I’ll take the win, tainted as it may be lol.
I withdrew 90k sats immediately to my Zebedee (ZED) wallet. I had a mission in mind that I wanted to clear.
I learnt that the Lightning Network is kind of awesome because I just paid 2 sats in routing fees.
I have been buying gift cards from Bitrefill because it seems like the only way I could spend my sats. But earlier this year, a bill payment company called AXS announced its partnership with Triple A, a crypto payment company. Singaporeans pay their bills using AXS machines scattered all over the island. However, if I wanted to pay my bill with sats, I gotta download the AXS app. Which I did ofc. Haven’t you heard? Sensei’s on a mission!
I wanted to pay my conservancy fee but it seemed that I haven’t been charged for April yet. Determined, I switched gears and decided to pay my insurance fee.
No, not even the 2% service fee deterred me. I mean, it’s cheaper than a cup of coffee!
I copied n pasted the Lightning invoice on my ZBD wallet.
I confirmed the transaction like a BOSS.
Success! I have never felt so thrilled when it comes to paying bills. Paying with sats just hits differently.
So addicted to this feeling that I prepaid my utilities bill this morning.
I love the direction Singapore is taking. I love being empowered to pay my bills with sats. I love the feeling of being accomplished whenever I tackle something on the Lightning Network.

Thank you, @siggy47, for maintaining this territory.
I was in Singapore last year, and tried to hit up a bar that was supposed to accept Bitcoin, at least according to BTC Maps. Waiter didn't know about it and requested I pay in fiat. Later however, he came back to my table letting me know that the previous owner used to take Bitcoin, but they don't.
Maybe that can be your next mission: go drink there every night and get them to accept BTC. Take your kids with you, never too early to start drinking :)
Trying to find it on BTC Map now, but it does not appear anymore. It was a Czech beer bar close to the Indian quarter of the city.

There’s a Kopitiam eatery at Funan Mall that accepts BTC payments. I’m determined to try it one day, especially so when I’m pumped by my success with AXS xP

Thank you. You're on your way to living on bitcoin.

It's awesome seeing people incorporating it into their actual lives.

How come you have two positions?
Thanks for being transparent haha
reply
It means I received less due to the bug. The first position (8) is for February and the second (5) is for May. In your case, you received more (I estimate you received about 20k more), your position (9) is for February, in March you should have been in 11th place.
reply
12th position actually haha.
Wow counting my blessings now haha.
I look forward to you sprinkling your encyclopaedic knowledge this month too

During the Age of Exploration, Portuguese explorers arrived in Macau, where the Camellia sinensis plant was called "ch”a" in Cantonese. This is how the Portuguese adopted the name "chá" for the beverage.
On the other hand, the English, Spanish, and Dutch, for example, traded through the port of Xiamen (formerly known as Amoy), where the Camellia sinensis was called "t”e" in Min Nan. This is why they named the drink "tea", "té", and "thee" in their respective languages.
The point I wanted to make is that the sound of the Portuguese word "chá" is very similar to the Japanese word "お茶" (Ocha).
Did you know that?
reply
Not only do I not know that, I’m gonna steal it as a caption for my photo today. Haha 😜

Nice post. I use the bitcoin company for gift card purchases but not sure if they are available in Singapore.

I have heard about them but Bitrefill fulfills my grocery n food takeout needs. So I have yet to explore the Bitcoin Company haha

I have also used Bitrefill a lot. So much so that I created a subdomain for it, bitrefill.glencooper.com. Clicks to that address just auto-redirect to my bitrefill referral link. Doing it that way makes it easy for me to immediately answer the common normie question, "but where can I spend it?". That's when I say, "oh that's easy, just go to bitrefill.glencooper.com".
I gave thebitcoincompany.com a try recently. It works great. It has actually become my preferred way to purchase gift cards when paying with bitcoin since they offer better cashback incentives than bitrefill. Just check their [Your Offers] section at the top of the app daily. They rotate them frequently so you will hopefully find something you want within a few days, and get extra % cashback that way. You can withdraw your % back immediately afterwards, or just let it accumulate on their site to use toward your next purchase.
I wanted to make another subdomain for thebitcoincompany.glencooper.com, but my webhost recently upgraded their cPanel and I have yet to figure out how to get it to work the way the old one did. Oh well. The name "thebitcoincompany.glencooper.com" is too long anyway. So for that reason, bitrefill still wins when sharing the link verbally.
In case you have not yet signed up for thebitcoincompany, and want an extra 1000 sats for signing up, use my reflink: https://app.thebitcoincompany.com/signup?ref=ISYQHY

I just signed up today! Thanks for prompting me to do it. Unfortunately, they slashed the rewards to 21 sats. But it seems that The Bitcoin Company has some good deals. Will use it n let you earn some sats xP
reply
Rewards depend on the card you are purchasing, how you pay and how much you buy. I think only Amazon gift cards give 21 sat reward. The rest should be a percentage of purchase back in sats.
Last gift card I purchased was a $25 gas card and I got 692 sats back.

I was expecting a response from you at some point - but not this fast!

I was responding to another comment and I got the notification so replied right away. I was actually just about to put my laptop away and take my dog for a walk. So it was good timing.
