And one key thing that we’ve noticed is that bitcoiners engage with positive sentiment more than negative sentiment. Bitcoiners get a high off bullish memes. So looking at this meme, it is pure positive energy. The word “Choose” is powerful, free men have a choice. This is good. “Rich” means power. You have power. This also is good.
Positivity is become more scarce by the day. Keeping things cheerful can be a superpower. As much as we have to warn people about the dangers of fiat, people like being around & engaging with people with a ‘glass half full’ mindset. That’s why people love market bubbles. The exuberance is infectious.
If I had to think of duality of the Yin Yang, the opposite of “Choose Rich” would be the legendary meme Have Fun Staying Poor. Whereas the latter can be seen as dismissive, suggesting an acceptance of one’s financial situation, “Choose Rich” offers an optimistic alternative. It encourages taking control of your financial destiny rather than accepting your fate.
Agree with the premise but not sure ‘Choose Rich’ is catchy to have staying power. Rich is subjective also, and I would even argue is not the vibe bitcoiners are going for. The ills of our society are on full show today, as wealth for those that have it, is being pursued at pace above any other sense of morality. They are playing a zero-sum game, a zero-fun game eventually.
This article has got me thinking if there’s a better meme or catchphrase to come for bitcoin. Agree with the thesis, but I do wonder if we can do better…

The meme is dying off, but I like the thesis.
On paper "choose rich" is better than "hfsp" but reality is not paper.

"Choose Hope".

The ultimate question is which meme is more productive to make BTCUSD increase?
We should probably run a poll to determine which meme to include in our next PODCONF Ultimate Resource for Conference Speakers.
